Yaprak Soysal is a freelance photographer specializing in documentary and street photography as well as nature, outdoor, life style, wedding and event photography. Her unique perspective and creative vision delivers the essence of a moment or a place in the form of photographic art. Her photography will bring you the sound of a waterfall or the roar of a subway train, a little piece of nature, the daily life on the streets or life's happy, honest moments where you will see, feel and experience LIFE itself.
There is always more to what is obvious that will make ordinary look extraordinary. Her ultimate joy and goal is to explore the urban jungle and the great outdoors to find and bring out that extraordinary through her art. When she explores and captures what is around her and expresses herself though her art, she is truly happy and at peace, feeling rested and inspired.
She does her best to get out there and find the beauty, discover the unique, capture what interests her, and present it the way she sees it. Some days the destination could be her own back yard, or other days a quaint town by the ocean, a sunflower field close-by, a big concrete jungle a couple hours away, or her homeland oceans away. With camera in hand, she explores all the possibilities that allow her to get there to tell a comprehensive and compelling story. She climbs on the top of her car, hops from boulder to boulder, gladly steps in a puddle, or wakes up at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise and continue shooting because of the contentment and inner peace she finds through photography.
Soysal has learned what makes her who she is as a current photographer out in the field. Her ultimate way of learning has been through practice, however she continues to read books, publications and online material and has taken courses at Delaware Tech and through the Photographic Society of America. She is a member of the Delaware Photographic Society (DPS) and the Photographic Society of America (PSA).
Her awards include a first place in the 2008 New Castle County Photography Contest and a second place in the 2010 Lewes Library's Delmarva on View Photography Contest. She has exhibited on both the Wilmington Art Loop and Newark Art Loop and has been accepted into DPS, PSA, and Wilmingon International Exhibition of Photography shows.
