Easterseals has been serving persons with disabilities since 1948. This section deals with services that would benefit veterans:
Adult Day Care: This center based prgram is for persons with any type of acquired disability. This includes seniors who may be frail. A full time nurse is on staff to provide for the medical needs of the participants. In addition, therapy services are provided if prescribed by a physican. There is also availability to other ES services listed below. Available in New Castle and Sussex counties.
Personal Attendant Services: Easterseals trains participants to interview and hire their own caregivers. A personal attendant can help people with disabilities live more independent and active lives both inside and outside the home. In some cases, family members can qualfiy to be paid to provide care to another family member.
Caregiver Resource Center: An Easterseals Social worker can help a caregiver find the information and resources they need to help care for a loved one with an aging or disability condition
Delaware Lifespan Respite Care Network: If a family member needs rest from the stress of being a caregiver to another adult, this program can hellp locate a respite provider and provide grants for short term respite care.
Resource & Technology Demonstration Center: Located in the New Castle location, visitors can try out hundreds of assistive devices on display and search for assistive devices in catalogs and DVDs.
FYI... Finance Your Independence; Delaware Assistive Technology Loan Program: Easterseals partnerships with lending instituions can provide low interest loans for home and vehicle modifications, as well as assistive devices.
Recreation Services: Easterseals Camp Fairlee can provide a traditional, residental, summer camp experience for adult with all types of disabilities. Sessions each summer last six dasy. In addtion there are "respite weekends" and travel trips to vacation destinations in the off season.
