VET CENTER

Veterans Readjustment Counseling

FREE SERVICE

Vet Center offer broad readjustment services to military Veterans. Counseling for military trauma and family problems is our main focus. However, we also provide referral services for VA benefits, including medical assistance and serve as a liaison between Veterans and community-based agencies. In addition, Vet Centers provide bereavement counseling to family members of military personnel who died in the service of their country.

Individual and group counseling is available for Veterans and their significant others, including OIF/OEF support groups for our newest Veterans. Marital, family and sexual trauma counseling is often provided on site and is available elsewhere through referral. We also help Veterans by providing substance abuse information and referral, along with job counseling.

HISTORY

Vet Centers first opened in the late 1979 to provide services to Vietnam-era Veterans. Subsequently, Congress and the President extended eligibility for the program to all war theater Veterans.

EXPERIENCE

Vet Center counselors offer over two decades of knowledge and experience with Veterans concerns. Many of them are Veterans themselves, who take great pride in the breadth of their own experience. Our staffs of counselors, social workers and psychologists practice with cultural awareness and sensitivity to all Veterans.

UNDERSTANDING

Wars are different. Attitudes and homecomings change. Vet Centers offer common ground for men and women who served our country during war. By joining ranks, Veterans can help one another through the homecoming experience. You can take advantage of our wisdom, service and community networking. We stand ready to help you and your loved ones with your transitioning home from war.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Our staff members respect the privacy of Veterans and hold in the strictest confidence all information disclosed in counseling. By law, no information will be communicated to any person or agency without written consent from Veterans, except to avert crisis.
