About the Partner / Provider
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is a solution-focused, strengths based model that incorporates horses experientially to promote emotional growth and learning. It is a collaborative effort between a licensed mental health clinician and an equine specialist, working with client's and horses to address treatment goals. The focus of EAP is NOT on riding or horsemanship. Compassionate Hearts treatment teams are certified in the EAGALA model of EAP, which is solidly grounded in well established and researched theories such as Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioral. The EAGALA model is a clinical advance of these theories, where the incorporation of horses is a deliberate, principled, thoughtful and professional catalyst to change.
