Blood Bank of Delmarva was founded in 1954 as a nonprofit, community-based center providing blood, plasma, and platelets to hospitals and other organizations.

Blood Bank of Delmarva merged with New York Blood Center and its other affiliates in Rhode Island, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Missouri in August 2017 essentially creating the New York Blood Center Enterprise.

With the NYBC partnership, BBD is in a position to grow our hospital customer base, donor base, and offer growth potential to our employees and potential employees as we continue with our new vision of being the steward of the donors' intent.
